1. Privacy at a glance
General information: The following notes provide a simple overview of what happens to your personal data when you visit this website. Personal data is any data that can be used to personally identify you.
Data collection on this website – who is responsible? Data processing on this website is carried out by the website operator. You can find their contact details in the imprint of this website.
How do we collect your data? Your data is collected partly by you providing it to us (e.g. via a contact form). Other data is automatically recorded by our IT systems when you visit the website (e.g. internet browser, operating system or time of access).
2. Hosting
This website is hosted externally. The personal data collected on this website is stored on the host's servers. This may include IP addresses, contact requests, meta and communication data, contract data, contact details, names, website accesses and other data generated through a website.
External hosting is carried out for the purpose of contract fulfillment with our potential and existing customers (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR) and in the interest of a secure, fast and efficient provision of our online offering by a professional provider (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
3. General notes and mandatory information
Data protection: The operators of these pages take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with statutory data protection regulations and this privacy policy.
Responsible body: Benjamin Boachie, Provinzialstraße 389, 44388 Dortmund, Germany, Email: team@musicians-universe.de.
Revocation of your consent: Many data processing operations are only possible with your express consent. You can revoke consent already given at any time. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out until the revocation remains unaffected.
4. Data collection on this website
Cookies: The internet pages partly use so-called cookies. They do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain viruses. Cookies serve to make our offer more user-friendly, more effective and more secure.
Contact form: If you send us inquiries via the contact form, your information from the inquiry form, including the contact details you provide there, will be stored for the purpose of processing the request and in case of follow-up questions. We will not pass on this data without your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR).
5. mu. Companion learning platform
The following applies to our learning platform mu. Companion (mucompanion.com), not to this website.
Master data: first and last name, email address, date of birth, chosen instrument, optionally a phone number and profile picture.
Consent records: the accepted versions of the terms and privacy notice with timestamps and, for minors, the name and email address of a legal guardian and the time of their confirmation.
Learning and progress data: completed lessons, quiz answers, experience points and levels, streaks and daily check-ins, practice minutes, sprint progress, badges and game scores.
Content you submit: community posts and comments as well as uploaded audio and video recordings.
Communication: questions to the coach, weekly check-in answers, feedback and conversations with the AI companion.
Technical data: push notification details and error reports.
Purposes and legal bases: master, learning, progress and communication data are processed to perform the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Consent records are stored to meet our accountability obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR). Optional features — push notifications, usage statistics and the AI companion — rely on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and can be switched off at any time.
Recipients: we use the following processors — Supabase (hosting, database, file storage), Resend (email delivery), Cloudflare Stream (delivery of uploaded videos), music.ai (separating uploaded songs into individual tracks), Anthropic (AI companion responses), Stripe (payment processing), PostHog (anonymised, cookieless usage statistics), Sentry (error reports without personal content) and Cloudflare Turnstile (protection against automated sign-ups).
Retention: we delete the account and associated data on request and at the latest 24 months after the last sign-in. You receive an email warning before deletion; signing in once is enough to prevent it. Consent records are kept for the statutory accountability periods.
6. Minors
mu. Companion is intended for people aged 10 and over. Younger children cannot register.
For people under 18 we obtain the consent of a legal guardian. During registration we ask for their name and email address and send a confirmation link to that address. Access remains blocked until the confirmation has been given.
We use the guardian's email address solely for this confirmation and for messages concerning the minor's account. It is not used for marketing.
Legal guardians may at any time request information about their child's data, ask for its correction or deletion and withdraw their consent — via the link in the confirmation email or informally to team@musicians-universe.de.
7. Your rights
You have the right at any time to receive free information about the origin, recipients and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have the right to request the correction, blocking or deletion of this data. You can contact us at any time at the address given in the imprint for this and for further questions on data protection.
Furthermore, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.
